Boston College MBA Admissions Help

The Carroll school of management at Boston College is one of the smaller high ranking MBA programs available with just over a hundred available places each year, but that does not prevent several hundreds of applicants from trying to gain a place at this top performing college. Boston College MBA admissions have to go through several hundred application packages each year to select those that they feel are the most likely to succeed on their MBA program. To be selected your application will need to stand out in a multitude of ways, not just through your academic performance.

Boston College MBA admissions requirements

Boston University MBA admissions like most other MBA programs are not in the habit of publishing minimum requirements for their intake each year. They are not just looking for a perfect past academic performance they are also looking for management and leadership ability along with a real ability to drive yourself forward and succeed. Something that they hope to see demonstrated through your essays and your resume.

While they do not publish minimums you can get some ideas of what they are looking from the class profiles that they publish each year. These provide average figures for various statistics such as:

  • GMAT scores 666 average
  • GPA average 3.41
  • 48 months work experience

These figures allow you to see the ballpark you need to be in to have some chance of being accepted; but remember these are not minimums but averages so half of those accepted will have lower or equal GPA etc.

In addition to these stats you also need to provide a number of written documents to support your application:

  • Resume showing employment and academic history
  • Online employment history (specified format)
  • 2 Personal essays
  • Two letters of recommendation

Your essays and resume are you opportunity to show the BU MBA admissions committee who you are and how you are going to utilize what you learn through their program. They are very much interested in developing business leaders who will have the ability and the drive to make a difference. If you can show that you have the capability and the ambition to do this through your essays and resume then you are on the way to be selected.
